The "KMCC Exchange," with its main store on Ramstein Air Base (Germany), represents the largest ARMY AND AIR FORCE EXCHANGE SERVICE (AAFES) U.S. shopping facilities in Europe. On December 14, 2023, the 400+ "KMCC-X" NAF employee unit voted to form a union under AFGE. The KMCC-X bargaining will fall under AFGE Local 0014, and a proposed AAFES Council 235 Europe Region.
The KMCC Exchange serves the Kaiserslautern Military Community (KMC). KMC is an American military community in and around Kaiserslautern, Germany, which supports United States Armed Forces and NATO installations. With around 54,000 people, including military service members, DoD civilians and contractors as well as their families, the KMC is the largest U.S. military community outside of the United States (according to the DoD). This community also includes various DoD schools that employ KMCC-X NAF Bargaining Unit members.
